The reputation for fine dining and luxurious surroundings at La Finca are famous and enjoyed by many at La Manga Club, so we decided to see for ourselves and taste its reputation.

La Finca Restaurant is located at La Manga Club behind the Si! bar but quietly tucked away in its own grounds. On arrival, there is ample parking and then you enter an enclosed courtyard with landscape gardens and generous seating areas for outdoor dining in the summer months. From here you see the rustic Spanish building and you can now understand where the name originates.

The moment you step through the doors, the warm atmosphere envelopes you and the glow from the log fire beckons you to the bar and the relaxed seating area. We are promptly greeted by the friendly staff who serve us pre-dinner drinks in front of the open fire. The relaxed atmosphere has been skilfully achieved through clever lighting and tasteful decor.

As we sipped away at a glass of white wine we pondered over the menu. The choice was vast and mouth-watering, and after much debate we decided on mussels steamed to perfection in a white wine, garlic, cream and parsley sauce. And Cappacio of Galician Beef fillet with salad of roasted red peppers, asparagus spears and sun-dried tomatoes, accompanied by fresh Parmesan shavings and wholegrain mustard creme fraiche glossed in extra virgin olive oil for our starter.

As the main course, we chose Noissetes of tender Lamb, pan sauteed and flashed with a red wine, lavender and vanilla jus. And pan fried Hake steak finished in a creamy clam chowder with Mediterranean prawns and baby claims, topped with fried rocket.

Shortly afterwards, we moved through to the dining area which is tastefully decorated and has a traditional warm feel complimented by the open beamed ceiling. The starters were delicious and well presented. The prompt waietr service kept our glasses full without interrupting us, which is a pet hate of mine. Following through with the basic rules of fine dining, we were served a palate refreshing lemon sorbet prior to the entrees arriving.

The Hake was light and fluffy, and the sauce was delicious. The Lamb was succulent and covered in a caramelised sweet sause that tantalised the taste buds. The portions were generous, although we managed to make room for a sweet, which was Banoffee Pie with a helping of Banana and Toffee ice cream, and for chocolate lovers, the Chocolate Brownie and Pistacchio ice cream is a must.

We ended our evening back in front of the fire enjoying a coffee. Our experience at La Finca was one I would repeat. It offers a special night out at reasonable prices at La Manga Club Spain.
